Blue Mountain Humane Society is committed to connecting people with their passion in order to further our mission to promote kindness and prevent cruelty in the Walla Walla Valley.
Vision for Volunteer Program:
We believe volunteers are vital to our success, providing unique knowledge and expertise as partners in our mission delivery, advocacy, and creating an engaged and inclusive community. We will create a humane and healthy team where volunteers:
- engage in meaningful work to improve the lives of animals.
- explore and maximize their individual strengths.
- receive training, mentorship and support as they work to further our mission and goals.
Volunteers under 14-years-old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
All volunteers are asked to commit to at least one 1-hour shift per month for a minimum of three months.
For information on group or family volunteer opportunities or inquiries regarding completing community service at BMHS, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call (509) 525-2452.
Step 1: Register and Attend a Volunteer Orientation Information Session
Are you ready to join our pack? The first step is to register and attend a volunteer orientation informational session. Volunteer orientation is held on the first Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. and on a Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Petco Foundation Community Room at BMHS. At orientation, you will learn more about BMHS’ mission, the services we provide to the community and ways you can get involved. Email email@example.com with questions about orientation, or call (509) 525-2452.
Step 2: Complete Volunteer Application & One-to-One Interview
Have you attended Volunteer Orientation and are ready to get started? If you are, sign-up for a One-to-One interview following the orientation session. The One-to-One interview takes place the week following orientation and is a time to connect with a staff member and decide together where you fit best in the organization.
It is required that you submit a volunteer application before you attend your One-to-One interview. Please note Volunteers under 18-years-old must complete a Youth Volunteer Application.
Step 3: Complete Position-Specific Training
After finalizing your schedule during your One-to-One Interview with a staff member, you’re ready to get started! Position specific training is hands-on and will give you the skills to safely complete your volunteer job responsibilities. Do you want to learn more about the different volunteer positions?
