Bridging the gap between lost and found
Reclaiming your pet
Lost your beloved furry friend? We're here to help reunite you with your four-legged family member. If you suspect that your pet may be at our shelter, please reach out to us as soon as possible, and we'll work together to bring them back home!
To ensure a smooth and efficient reclamation process, we request the following information and documents:
Photo ID: Please provide a valid identification document, such as a driver's license or passport, to verify your identity.
Proof of ownership: In order to confirm that the animal belongs to you, we require any relevant documentation that demonstrates ownership. This may include veterinary records, a dog license, microchip information, or even photos of your furry companion.
Fees: As part of our commitment to the well-being of animals in our care, we charge a $35 impound fee. This fee covers the essential care and vaccines provided to your pet during their intake at our shelter. Additionally, please note that a license fee is required, as BMHS is mandated to issue a current 2024 license (licensing fees for dogs only, not cats). Additional fees may apply based on your place of residence, spay or neuter status, and the length of your animal's stay with us.
Reclaiming on behalf of the owner: If you are not the owner but are reclaiming an animal for someone else, we need verbal confirmation from the current owner to ensure a secure and proper reunification process.
At Blue Mountain Humane Society, we understand the deep bond between humans and their animals. Our goal is to unite lost pets with their loving families. If you have any questions or need assistance with the reclamation process, please don't hesitate to contact us. Together, let's bring your furry friend back where they belong!
Note: Please be aware that these procedures and requirements are subject to change. We recommend contacting us directly for the most up-to-date information.
