Phoebus
Phoebus has been at BMHS since February 29, 2024.
Phoebus is the longest-stay dog at Blue Mountain Humane Society, having been at the shelter for a year. He is two years old, which means that he has spent half his life at the shelter. Phoebus is a good-looking black and white boy who weighs 77 pounds. He is a graduate of the basic training program at the Washington State Penitentiary, and he has responded well to additional training he’s received at the shelter since his graduation. He has been on many outings with volunteers and does very well riding in the car. He is friendly and happy to meet all the people he encounters in these public settings, including children. He is energetic and particularly likes to play with tennis balls. He plays well with some dogs, especially female dogs, but is more reactive to other dogs. However, he responds well to training to lessen his dog reactivity.
Phoebus has experienced a year of stress by being in the shelter, and he needs a family who recognizes that he needs love and patience to help him settle into his new home.
If you would like to meet Phoebus, please fill out an application on the Blue Mountain Humane Society website in order to meet him in person (or dog). If you have other dogs, please bring them along to ensure compatibility.

Buster
Buster has been at BMHS since December 20, 2024.
Buster is a big-hearted, 82-pound pup looking for a home where he can stretch out and play. At just over a year old, he’s full of energy and ready to keep learning. Buster is a sweet and loyal boy who has lived with adults, children, and other large dogs. He did well with potty training in his previous home and walks nicely on a leash.
He enjoys playing with tennis balls, digging for “treasure,” and showing off his tricks—he already knows how to sit, stay, and shake. While he’s made great progress, Buster would benefit from some continued training to help him be his best.
If you have dogs at home, the BMHS staff can schedule a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone gets along. If Buster sounds like the right fit for your family, fill out an application and come meet him!

Rocky is an energetic pup who would thrive with someone who enjoys adventures, outdoor play, and staying active.
This handsome boy is a WSP Graduate and eligible for the Pets for Patriots program. He’s eager to please, enjoys playtime, and would love a family that can match his enthusiasm for life.

Gabby
Gabby has been at BMHS since May 13, 2025.
Gabby is a 1-year-old mixed breed with a soft brown-and-white coat and a personality that’s as chatty as it is sweet. Nicknamed “Yappy Gabby” by staff, she loves to talk and has plenty to say. At a young age and large size, she’s playful, curious, and eager to be someone’s best friend.
She enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely do well with canine companions after a proper introduction. Gabby is also a WSP Graduate and eligible for the Pets for Patriots program, offering additional support to veterans and service members who adopt her.
