Blue Mountain Humane Society by the Numbers
Blue Mountain Humane Society is committed to providing transparency and accountability to our community. That's why we're excited to offer access to the Shelter Animals Count Data Dashboards, which provide comprehensive and up-to-date data on our shelter's intakes, outcomes, and more. SAC is a third-party organization that BMHS reports data to on a monthly basis.
These dashboards are a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn more about Blue Mountain Humane Society's work and the impact we're making on the lives of animals in our community. You can use the dashboards to track our progress over time, identify areas where we can improve, and learn more about the specific needs of the animals we serve.
Blue Mountain Humane Society is a no-kill shelter with a live-release rate of 97% in 2024.
Being a no-kill shelter means we never euthanize animals for space, time, or treatable conditions. But as the only animal shelter in the region, we’re often the place people turn to with animals who are gravely ill, severely injured, or suffering. In those cases, when recovery isn’t possible and quality of life is gone, euthanasia is the most humane option. We also occasionally receive animals through animal control with severe, unresolvable behavior issues that pose a danger to others. These rare but serious cases also contribute to the small number of animals we are unable to save.
Every decision we make is grounded in compassion, professional standards, and a commitment to doing what’s best for each animal — and for the safety of the community.
