BMHS Preventative Care Clinic

At the Blue Mountain Humane Society, we are dedicated to improving the lives of pets and their families. Our Preventative Care Clinic is exclusively for pet owners who meet Washington State income eligibility requirements, providing affordable preventative care to help keep pets healthy.

Our services include vaccines, deworming, flea/tick prevention, microchipping, nail trims, and anal gland expression. Please note, we are not a full-service veterinary clinic and do not treat sick or injured pets. We encourage every family to have a primary care veterinarian for ongoing medical needs and illnesses.

We are proud to support our community by offering these essential services to income-qualified pet owners in Walla Walla and the surrounding areas. For more information about our services, pricing, and eligibility, please see the details below.

Services and Pricing

Our clinic focuses on preventative care only, such as vaccines, microchips, and parasite control, to keep your pet healthy. We recommend maintaining a relationship with your regular full-service veterinarian for comprehensive care, including treatment for illnesses or medical concerns, as we are not equipped to see sick pets.

Brief Annual Exam (Required)

Ensures your pet is healthy enough for vaccines and treatments, as required by WA State law.

Unaltered pets: $50

Altered pets: $30

Good News!

Once your pet has had their yearly exam with our BMHS veterinarian, you can schedule additional services (e.g., nail trims, vaccine boosters) at any time within that 1-year period without needing to pay for another exam.

Incentive Program for Unaltered Pets

Unaltered (not spayed/neutered) pets with a higher exam fee ($50) can receive a $20 credit toward their spay/neuter procedure when scheduling during their clinic visit.

How It Works:

• Schedule the spay/neuter procedure and pay the deposit online.

• A $20 discount/credit is applied at the time of the procedure.

• If the appointment is canceled or missed, the discount is forfeited.

Proof of Rabies Vaccine

Rabies vaccinations are required for all animals over 12 weeks of age by Washington State law. If you do not provide a current rabies certificate (tags will not be accepted as proof), we require you to pay the $25 fee to have your pet vaccinated at the time of their exam and any other services requested.

Deposit Required

To secure an appointment, a deposit is required, and only debit or credit cards are accepted per BMHS policy. If you do not have access to a card, prepaid credit cards can be purchased at most retail stores for your convenience.

Appointments must be scheduled online. If you don’t have access to an electronic device, consider asking a friend or family member for help or using a public computer at your local library, which often provides free internet access.

If you are still struggling to make an appointment, please call us at 509-525-2452 for further assistance.

What to expect at your appointment

  • Please arrive at 5-10 minutes before your appointment and come through the front entrance of the shelter. Our staff will get you checked in and direct you to the next step. They may ask you to wait in your car if we are not quite ready for your pet. Our lobby is small, and we want to limit pet-to-pet contact. Please note that once ready, our staff will bring your pet to the treatment area while you wait in the lobby. We do not have exam rooms for clients to come into with their pet. Late arrivals will be rescheduled for a later date.

  • All pets must be individually restrained. Dogs must be on a leash. Cats must be in individual carriers, if not there will be an additional $10 fee.

  • Pay remaining balance with cash or a credit/debit card. If there is any remaining payment owed for the appointment, you will be asked to pay at the time of check-in. Checks and Care Credit will not be accepted for preventative care clinic services. Payment is required at the time of service, or your appointment will be rescheduled. We cannot offer payment plans. Please be advised that there may be additional surcharges for treatments for things like live fleas or tapeworms.

Note: During the registration process, you will be asked a series of questions about your pet that are essential for us to provide medical services (such as age, weight, and breed). Please fill these in to the best of your ability. If your pet is a mixed breed, that option is in the drop-down menu, which is alphabetical. Thank you for helping us provide you with the best quality pet care possible!
