Dog Jog Keeps Moving

Big dogs, small dogs, and people who love dogs – Dog Jog is a dog lover’s dream come true! Honey, our 4-year-old Pitbull mix, thought she had died and gone to doggy heaven when she jumped out of our car at the Mill Creek Recreation Area parking lot for the 2018 Dog Jog. We had adopted her from Blue Mountain Humane Society the previous October and she was still coming out of her shell.

She’s a pretty timid girl and she really comes alive when she is around other dogs. As you may imagine, Dog Jog was her dream come true. 300 people and 100+ dogs is a world of fun, for both the dogs and their people.

We met other Pitbulls, Golden Retrievers, Pugs, Chihuahuas, Saint Bernards, and every other type of dog you can imagine. It was magic.

The airhorn blew and we were off! People and their pups ran, walked, strolled, and enjoyed the day. We crossed the finish line and enjoyed the bark park full of local vendors. Honey got lots of pets from the people she met, and she even got to take a dunk in the canine oasis (read: kiddy pools for the dogs).

We love Dog Jog because it’s a dog-tastic good time and it’s for a good cause! All event proceeds benefit the shelter pets at BMHS – which is extra special to us. BMHS makes happy endings like the one we have with our Honey girl happen every day. They go the extra mile to help animals in our community when they need it most. Honey and I are extra thankful.

COVID-19 has changed so much for all of us, but it hasn’t changed how much we love our pets. I know I’ve been extra thankful for my pittie girl during the past year. Even though we can’t all get together this year at Dog Jog – we can still make a difference for animals right here in our community!

Join me (and Honey, most importantly) in walking, running, or riding at the 2021 Dog Jog. You can participate from anywhere you’d like during the week of May 1 – May 9. Register now and get a really cool Dog Jog t-shirt (they are yellow this year – so you can see other Dog Joggers out and about during event week!) All registrations come with a goodie bag chuck full of local goodies to help support our community.
