We are thrilled to announce the Board of Directors leadership team for 2024. Alzada Tipton is our esteemed President, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the role. Alzada, currently serving as the Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Whitman College, holds a Ph.D. in English literature, specializing in British Renaissance literature. Her commitment to community service (including being a dedicated BMHS dogwalker along with her husband, Greg Harman) extends beyond academia, including volunteer work at wildlife rehabilitation and raptor centers, as well as with organizations focused on wolves and big cats. Alzada is excited about the collaborative efforts ahead with our outstanding board.
Additionally, we welcome Krista Timm as Vice President, Tish Watts continuing as Secretary, and Danielle Christopher remaining our dedicated Treasurer. Together, this dynamic team is committed to advancing the mission of Blue Mountain Humane Society.
Krista Timm, assuming the role of Vice President, brings a personal connection to her new position. Her grandfather's involvement with the humane society has inspired her, making her journey more than just a role — it's a tribute to a family legacy. Originally from Lakewood, Washington, Krista's weekends were dedicated to fostering cats and aiding their adoptions from PetSmart. Holding a bachelor's degree in human development from Washington State University, she is currently the regional coordinator for the Greater Columbia Youth Cannabis and Commercial Tobacco Prevention Program.
Both Alzada and Krista embody the spirit of service and dedication that defines the Blue Mountain Humane Society. We are excited about the leadership they bring and the positive impact they will undoubtedly have on our organization's future. The Board of Directors at Blue Mountain Humane Society plays an important role in guiding the organization toward its mission of compassion and care for animals. Led by President Alzada Tipton, our board is responsible for strategic decision-making and financial oversight of the shelter. Each member of the Board contributes their expertise to maintain the high standards that define BMHS. With a collective commitment to advancing the organization's goals, our Board actively engages in community outreach, advocates for animal rights, and fosters partnerships to secure a brighter future for the animals we cherish.
