Deku’s Happy Tail

Deku’s new bestie, Alejandro, TracyLynn Farber’s grandchild. The two formed an immediate bond.

We are thrilled to share the heartwarming success story of Deku, a lovable canine companion who, after nearly 300 days at Blue Mountain Humane Society, has found his forever home with the Farber family.

Deku, with his patient and eager-to-please heart, has seamlessly settled into the rhythms of his new home. TracyLynn Farber, his adopter, couldn't be happier with the newest addition to her family. Their bond is undeniable, and Deku has quickly become TracyLynn's constant companion, following her every step at home.

The Farber family has embraced Deku with open arms, making sure he gets plenty of exercise and playtime. In fact, they engage in a spirited game of fetch in the backyard at least six times a day. The joyous occasion of Deku's adoption was marked by a celebration, complete with a cake from the Barkery, a delightful gesture that reflects the love and commitment this family has for their four-legged friend.

Touched by Deku's story, the Farbers, having recently lost their cat, actively sought the perfect addition to their one-pet household — an essential requirement to meet Deku's needs. Deku, championed by their daughter, captured their hearts with his resilience and charming personality. The Farber family, known for having a soft spot for challenging cases like Deku's, found in him the missing piece to their family puzzle.

Deku's journey wouldn't have reached its happy ending without the dedication and tireless efforts of volunteers like Nancy Seright, who played a crucial role, along with others, in making Deku a social media sensation. During Deku’s extended stay with us, Nancy took him on countless walks, offering reassurance, “Deku, you will find your forever home someday. I promise.” The emotional yet joyous farewell between Deku and Nancy on the day he went home marked the beginning of a new chapter for our furry friend.

Gratitude extends to Staci Wanichek, owner of Wine Away, for unwavering advocacy and support. Staci's company generously sponsored future supplies and training for Deku, ensuring he continues to thrive in his forever home. Staci also played a crucial role in Deku becoming an online sensation through numerous posts and emotional pleas.

It is crucial to also acknowledge the hard work of our volunteers and staff, including the animal care and medical teams, who tirelessly work behind the scenes. The emotional toll of caring for animals is significant, but their dedication ensures that every animal, like Deku, receives the love and attention they deserve. From multiple daily walks to nourishing meals and essential medical attention, the collective efforts have made a significant impact on Deku's life, as well as countless other animals.

To our unsung heroes — the volunteers and staff — thank you for your commitment to the well-being of animals like Deku. Your work is the driving force behind stories like these. We celebrate Deku's journey and look forward to more tales of triumph as we continue our mission at Blue Mountain Humane Society.
