We have a few simple requirements for our volunteers:
Volunteers under 14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
We request that all volunteers commit to at least one 1-hour shift per month for a minimum of three months.

Support the smooth operation of Blue Mountain Humane Society by assisting in the administrative office. Tasks include data entry, phone call handling, photocopying, filing, and organizing.

Be a matchmaker and assist in finding forever homes for our animals. Guide the public through the adoption process and work closely with the customer service team to provide an excellent experience. Learn about the unique traits of each adoptable animal and help them find their perfect match.

Ensure the happiness, health, and cleanliness of our animals. Responsibilities include cleaning kennels, basic housekeeping, feeding, exercising, and providing enrichment. Opportunities are available for cats, small dogs, and large dogs. Enjoy working hands-on with animals and commit to a consistent weekly schedule.

Contribute to our mission of ending pet overpopulation by caring for animals before and after their spay/neuter surgeries. Assist staff in preparing animals for surgery and provide comfort during recovery. Ideal candidates should be at least 18 years old, comfortable with sedated animals, and available on a consistent weekly basis.

Provide socialization, exercise, basic obedience training, and enrichment to our dogs through walking and outdoor time. Work alongside staff and other volunteers

Assist in planning, preparation, and execution of offsite events. Help gather event supplies, set up and tear down, and handle animals. Enjoy communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the success of our events.

Ensure the well-being of our adoptable cats housed at Petco while they wait for their forever homes. Tasks involve cleaning cages, feeding, and providing consistent socialization. Embrace the opportunity to serve offsite at Petco and commit to a weekly schedule.

Help socialize our adoptable dogs and enjoy some exercise in the morning. Collaborate with staff to provide supervised playtime for dogs in a group environment. Ideal candidates should be over 16 years old, capable of walking consistently for two hours, comfortable with large dogs, and available on a consistent weekly basis.

Combine your love for animals and the elderly by transporting an adoptable animal from BMHS to a local senior center, bringing joy to seniors in our community. If you have reliable transportation, a passion for connecting animals with the elderly, and can commit to a monthly schedule, this opportunity is perfect for you.
