Your portal to BMHS volunteering.

Welcome to the Blue Mountain Humane Society's current volunteer management system - the perfect tool to manage your volunteer experience with us! Our system allows you to view your completed volunteer hours, sign up for volunteer shifts, or check your messages. To access the system’s portal, follow these instructions.

Here's how you can use the portal:

1. Click on the "Volunteer Portal" button below.

2. You will be directed to our external volunteer management system.

3. Choose the job you want to volunteer for from the list of available positions.

4. Enter your details such as first name and email address to sign up.

5. A list of available shifts will be displayed. Choose the shift you want and click on the time slot. The number of volunteers needed for the shift will be displayed.

6. Check the box of the shift(s) you want and click on the "Sign up to Volunteer" button.

7. Sign up for the shift closest to the time you will be able to volunteer.

Volunteer procedures for closed days

Sundays & Mondays:

• Park on the road in front of the building and use the "people gate" beside the car entrance gate to enter.

• Sign in for your shift at the Volunteer Hub inside the building through the doors on the right.

• If the public arrives seeking assistance, use your walkie talkie and radio for animal care.

• If the public brings a stray, radio for animal care - do NOT take the animal yourself.

• Do not exit through the front doors as they remain closed; exit through the side doors where you entered.

BMHS volunteer holiday schedule

On certain holidays, BMHS will be closed to the public to allow our dedicated Animal Care staff to provide the necessary care for our animals.

During observed holidays, the Animal Care team will be on-site from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. As a valued volunteer, you are welcome to enter the building and continue your important contributions during these hours.

Please note that the building will be locked in between these specified times for security reasons. We ask that you plan your volunteer activities accordingly.

• Independence Day

• Labor Day

• Thanksgiving

• Christmas

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during these holidays, as it allows our staff to provide the necessary care for our shelter animals. Your commitment and dedication are vital in supporting our mission, and we are grateful for your continued support.
