Check out Handsome Lobo!

Puppies come and puppies go, but some of our adult doggos have been here for a while. They’re ready to go home! So we’re doing a little feature on one of these deluxe doggies who we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know during their weeks or months here. Meet one of our diamonds in the Ruff.

Lobo is a smart, beautiful boy who really likes treats, and being told he is a good dog.

If you take him home, you’ll quickly become his best friend in the whole wide world and he’ll never want to leave your side. Here’s one of the ways we know… Jessica, our Animal Welfare Officer, has been taking him on his walks regularly. He looks up at her affectionately when she tells him “hold on a second” or “okay, let’s go, Lobo!” Yesterday, I had a whole little setup by my desk so Lobo could hang out on a blanket (with ample supply of treats) rather than heading back to the kennels after his walk. However… I am not Jessica, and therefore, apparently, way less cool. He’d chilled out and laid down… and then she walked past, and he was immediately up and standing at attention with a little “wfff!” There was also a little incident a bit later where she waved hello through the window, and he was immediately over the desk with his doggy nose to the window, ready to defy physics to get out there and go play with his friend!

That’s just about his morning walk friend for the last month… imagine how much he’s going to adore his forever family! It’s pretty much a guarantee that if you take this guy on some walks, feed him some good treats, talk to him and give him good head pats… that he’ll give his doggy heart to you and follow you to the ends of the earth.

One side effect of this loving loyalty is that he really wants time with his forever family. Lobo’s dream home is one where his people are home with him more than they’re gone, or he gets to go along with them on lots of adventures. His past family surrendered him because they just didn’t have enough time to give him the attention he needs with their work and school schedules. He’s a bonafide awesome pre-loved dog, looking for a loving home.

He’d be good with a doggy friend - he came in with his sister Luna, so we know he doesn’t need to be the only pup in the household, though he does prefer to be the top dog. He’d be just fine being the only dog, too – more of your attention all to himself! If you’re thinking about bringing Lobo home to live with another great dog, bring them along for a meet-and-greet here! One of our animal care specialists can help make a supervised introduction, so we can be sure they’re good friends. He also likes playing with kids. We also always offer a free 3-day home trial for adult dogs, so you can make sure it works out well in your home environment, too! (We’re not sure about cats… but it’s possible he’s not a big fan).

He is a little timid at first – so if you come in to meet him and he’s not immediately tail-wags and kisses at you, just give it a few minutes. He’s an intelligent guy, and is just taking a moment to get a feel for you. You’ll be best friends, soon! Be patient with him, and you’ll have a friend forever.

He’s a good boy, and will sit for treats, will walk happily on a leash, and likes to be hugged. Sometimes, with the promise of a chicken jerky treat (his favorites), he’ll even shake – he’s a very smart and attentive dog and will love learning new tricks. He likes listening to us and figuring out what we’re asking for.

One of our favorite things about Lobo is that when he’s listening intently with his ears all perked up, he looks kinda like a cute little bat! Na-na-na-na-na-na BAT-DOG! He’s prepared to help you in protecting Gotham City! Or, you know, looking particularly on-theme when you take him for a walk on Walla Walla’s Adam West day.

We can attest that his gorgeous, soft, glossy black coat will result in some dog hairs in your home. But hey… you’re looking to adopt a dog, right? You know that. And if you’re the sort of person who wears black slacks on the regular… black dog fur blends right in! Perfect!

Lobo deserves a home with plenty of snuggles, walks, and treats. Are you his soul mate? He’s ready to come home, now.
