Meet our Lovely Lady
Puppies come and puppies go, but some of our adult doggos have been here for a while. They’re ready to go home! So we’re doing a little feature on one of these deluxe doggies who we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know during their weeks or months here. Meet one of our diamonds in the Ruff.
Lady wants more than anything in all the world to run with you. Sure, she can catch a tennis ball or sit for a treat, she likes a good hug and a drink from the kiddie pool… but all of that is nothing compared to the idea that you might run with her.
She does tug at a leash. We’re working on it, but it’s slow going, because this girl just wants to go faster, and wants us to come with her. Off-leash in the bark park, she’ll sniff and gambol like any good pupper… but when out to get some photos, when she didn’t return with the ball I threw, and I went to jog out to get it… AH. *That’s* where the fun is.

She did a happy little skip-hop and started running beside me. For a minute… and then she sped up, and since I was just gently headed for the tennis ball, I didn’t keep up… so she circled back around to come back and run with me. I gave it a try and did a little running, but, um, I’m not a runner at all, and she had to keep looking back over her shoulder. The girl is *fast*, too, and somehow tireless. Do you want a workout buddy? A pup ready to help you train for a marathon? Lady’s doggy grin over her shoulder clearly says “Yay c’mon run run run YAY!” …she had even *me* thinking I should try a little harder, go a little further. Her energy is contagious.

Part of my photography routine involves getting on doggy-eye-level, which kinda means laying on my belly in the grass. Lady was delighted by this, that I’d come down, certainly, just for hugs and kisses. If you don’t mind doggy kisses, she’ll happily bowl you over with them.
When we say she’s a muscular, strong dog… well, what we’re really referring to here is the gusto of her tail wag. We paused in the hallway on the way back from a walk and her tail against the wall made quite a thump-thump-thump. Need a reliable drummer for your garage band? It turns out… we have a dog for that!
And, I mean, she generously let us stick a flower headband on her a few times. While the flowers make her *look* like a sweetie, doesn’t her keeping them on her head while we snapped a pic *prove* she’s a sweetie? Thanks, Lady - you’re a good girl.
We love a good sit & shake around here. There’s always a lot going on at BMHS, and so many things are distracting - the dog across the parking lot barking, the delivery truck that pulled up, the smells of a dog park a dozen dogs have just walked through… not to mention the excitement of being out and off leash after hanging out in a kennel. All of that, a wide open bark park to run in… and this girl will happily trot to your side, look in your eyes, and offer you her doggy paw for a hello-shake. (Of course we reward her with a treat. Basically, I want to give her ALL the treats. Don’t you? Just look at that sweet face.)

She’s a bundle of excitement… all of it joyous. I’ve done nothing to deserve all this tail-wagging, face-kissing, run-in-circles-around-me love… but she’s so happy to give it to me. She’s got lots to spare. No matter how tiring the world might be, or how bad your day was, or how you might feel down about yourself… Lady is going to think it’s the best thing EVER that she gets to be near you.
This bundle of dog love is here just waiting for the person she can wag her tail hello to every single morning. Is it you?? She hasn’t met you yet, but she loves you already. Just wait and see.
We don’t know much of Lady’s history. She seems like a dog who would love another dog to play with. We stopped by the catio on the way to the bark park and she and the kitty inside just sniffed at each other through the fence… lady wagged her tail. She’s kind, even if she can be a bit energetic about it. She’s a LOT of dog… so when considering if you might want to introduce her to a family with other pets, consider whether they’re ready for… basically the world’s biggest puppy. While she’s certainly a happy girl, we wouldn’t say she’s very chill. I mean, when she’s gotten all tuckered out and is asleep in a curled up ball, the “awwww” is pretty strong with this one.
Lady deserves a hand to put her paw in, a sturdy chew toy or two, a soft place to sleep and someone to pet her and tell her she’s a good dog.
