Scouting Out New BMHS Project

Part of earning the Eagle Scout honor includes a community service project, and Eagle-Scout-in-the-making Frankie Worden is working on his service project right here at the shelter. As a member of Troop #305, he has undertaken the construction of concrete entrance pads to the two new dog parks so that dogs have a cleaner, easier way into the yards. This will help keep down messes by replacing the gravel and mud entrances as well as making the area easier to sanitize for puppies who are more susceptible to diseases from other dogs.

With the help of Concrete Industries, Smith Landscaping, and Walla Walla concrete construction, Frankie oversaw the completion of these two entrances as well as covering part of the cost through fundraising. The construction and landscaping projects that he collaborated with also contributed to the cost and he shares that they were a pleasure to work with and a tremendous help.

We are grateful for their contributions and look forward to using the two new entrances once they have finished drying!
