Check out Cosette!

Puppies come and puppies go, but some of our adult doggos have been here for awhile. They’re ready to go home! So every day this week, we’re going to do a little feature on one of these deluxe doggies who we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know during their weeks or months here. Meet our diamonds in the Ruff.

Cosette is our longest resident, and I’m going to be honest, here – she’s my favorite. I fell in love with her the day I started working at the Humane Society, and was surprised to learn she’s been here since February. I would take her home in a heartbeat if I could.

For starters, there’s love at first sight… she’s got big brown eyes, and a gorgeous brindle coat. She’s like a tiger! Walking down the street with this honey, you’re sure to hear “Wow, she’s so pretty!”

She’s also a very, very good girl. She knows how to sit for a treat, even if everything around her is chaotic barking dogs and meowing cats. There’s always a lot going on at the Humane Society, which could be very distracting – but Cosette tries her best to be poised and sweet. (She’s not perfect… she likes to woof back when dogs get excited - she’s working on her training, still!)

Let’s talk about tail-wagging. You’re going to want to move things away from the edge of the coffee table, because this girl has the waggiest wag that ever wagged. We’re talking tail-thumping, SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU, FRIEND! And she will be happy to see you – we promise, if you make an appointment to come see her, she’ll wag her tail so emphatically that she’ll wag her rump, and if you add a treat into the mix, she’ll wag her whole doggy self.

Today, she was tugging-at-the-leash wiggle-wagging excited when she saw the UPS guy drive up… but as soon as he got closer to say hello, she stopped, gave the leash some slack, and sat still to get head pats. Good girl, Cosette!

Cosette Wants to Play.png

We think she’d be best for a house with older kids – but that isn’t about aggression, or a disinterest in playing. It’s just that she’s a big lady, and we’re pretty sure she might be so happy to see your kids, that if they’re little enough, they might get knocked over by that happy wagging tail. She’s so full of wiggles and energy… and she’s not quite aware of how big she is.

While she’s been here for a long time, she came to us as a stray, so we don’t know how she will get along with kids and dogs – so if you’re interested in meeting her, bring along your kids and pups to see how they hit it off.

We always do a free three-day home trial with older dogs – so you have a chance to see how she does in your home to make sure everything is a perfect fit.

She’s not a little puppy, but she’s only two years old, with plenty of gusto to go on adventures. She’d love to join you on your morning jog. She could play forever… she’s been working on her fetch game, and sometimes she can grab a tennis ball right out of midair, with a flying leap! She’ll do her doggy best to impress you. She’d also really, really love it if you would play tug-of-war with her.

She’s also a snugglebug – shhh, no one tell her she’s too big to be a lap dog, it’d break her heart.

One of the things that is so great about having a dog in your life is unconditional love. When you meet Cosette, you’ll know she already adores you, and can’t wait to get a hug from you. (She really, really likes hugs. We can tell by the tail-wag wiggles).

She’s going to make someone an A+ best friend… you just haven’t met her yet.

She deserves a home with a soft bed, and treats, and balls to fetch, and love.

Even if you’re not ready to adopt a dog, Cosette would love to be fostered.
